Exodus 31:18

Exodus 31:18 And He gave to Moses, when He had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

What do we do with the covenant, that was written with the finger of God? Do we discard it as irrelevant to our lives to day - under grace and not under law - and so despise what God said and wrote? Did God make a mistake? Not according to Paul, who explicitly said:

Romans 7:12 ... the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.

It needs interpretation and appropriate application, but let none of us seat ourselves in judgement over what God said and gave to His people as the way of life!

In my years as a Christian I have never, in a church, heard the plus side of the 10 commandments taught, the benefits they bring to individuals as well as society in general. The fact that English law is based upon them is long forgotten. So many regard them as the 'thy shall not' laws is so sad. The book of common prayer services have then written out in full, very rarely are they read out in full. I wonder why?
