Luke 1:54 He has given help to Israel His servant, in remembrance of His mercy.
The fifth verse from the text known as the Magnificat. God remembers Israel and the covenant He has with them; that is why He helps them. Israel's conduct doesn't affect their status as God's chosen servant. It certainly does affect what they get from God - if they are obedient, then blessing, if they are disobedient, then curse - but the covenant endures and God's faithfulness keeps and maintains the covenant always and in all circumstances. That's what happened in Egypt:
Exodus 2:23-25 The people of Israel groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God. And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. God saw the people of Israel--and God knew.
Are you in Egypt and have you cried out to God? Then He has heard and remembered you.
