Jeremiah 29:13

Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.

This is both a pre-condition and a promise. God says that we will only find Him when we really want to, when we are prepared to put some effort into the search and spend however long it takes. Does that sound like hard work? Yes it does, but the promise is that the investment will always be rewarded: when we put everything we have into seeking God we will find Him and be able to connect with Him.

Why does He make it so hard for us to find him?? Any ideas?

I see this as a blend of two ideas. Firstly, the is the question of value. We don't value things that don't cost us anything. We fight for what we know is worth having. By making seeking Him hard work, we invest and reap the reward of value, knowing that we really wanted it and now we have it.

The second idea is a question of stretching. Do you exercise daily? If you do, then you'll know that you can't just do the same thing every day. In order to get fit, you start small and grow your output, so that over time your muscles stretch and gain strength, reach and power. So it is with our relationship with God. As we seek Him, our understanding of Him, our knowledge of His word, our patience or persistence in prayer grow and so our relationship with Him deepens and grows.
