Luke 9:6 And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
I love this! The disciples went out preaching and healing. They went everywhere, through all the villages, sharing the good news of the gospel ... but wait a minute, this is chapters and chapters before the Cross. How could they possibly share the gospel? Perhaps the gospel is not, after all, what we might think it is. Perhaps the gospel is the good news that the kingdom of God is at hand and that we have been invited to be part of what God is doing. Isn't that exciting? It's a lot easier to share than a message of sin, death, hell and the need to repent in order to escape. As the old saying goes, you'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
