Jeremiah 42:20 For you sent me to the LORD your God, saying, 'Pray for us to the LORD our God, and whatever the LORD our God says declare to us and we will do it.'
Have you ever been there and done that? Prayed about something, promising God that you'll do whatever He says, but then doing something else instead - something you thought would be better? A lot of people have, and it has always cost them dearly. But it is so easy to do. God would never tell you to do something you don't want, because He gives you the desires of your heart. God would never tell you to do something dangerous or costly, because He has promised to protect you and provide for you.
I don't think so. I mean, I know He has made those promises, but He doesn't intend them to be used as excuses for disobeying His instructions. He comes first and His promises to us will always be fulfilled, but not if we disobey Him. He knows our hearts; He knows whether we will make excuses and back out of something we don't fancy doing. He isn't convinced or pleased with our arguments. He expects us to get on and do what we are told and in that obedience He blesses us and does far more than we could think or ask.
So next time, make sure you do whatever He says!
