Isaiah 2:7 Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots.
In a second list of problems with ancient Judea, the prophet highlights the way the people have focussed on material wealth and its most obvious physical manifestations. Wealth gets in the way of the kingdom of God! Sadly, our modern world too is obsessed with wealth and its visual expressions: big cars, opulent jewelry, expensive lifestyle. Everything has become reduced to short-term profit and blow the people. How can we try to limit the influence of modern capitalism that ignores the common good in our lives?
