Isaiah 5:21

Isaiah 5:21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!

Everyone likes their own opinion, to have their choices and way of life validated. Have you noticed the agenda of many groups these days? It is not enough that their choices and behaviour is tolerated; their values muts be celebrated, affirmed and given positive discrimination. But hear the words of Scripture:

1 Corinthians 1:27 God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong

Those who think themselves wise will find out that they have been wrong all along, that their wisdom and choices have been discarded and rejected by God. He chooses the simple and straightforward things, the things that agree with Him and His values - even they look foolish in the eyes of the world (read: the clever people, with their own agendas) - to show just how silly and stupid clever people can be. As Paul said to the Romans:

Romans 3:4 Let God be found true, though every man be found a liar.
