Isaiah 10:13-34

Isaiah 10:13-14 For he says: "By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding; I remove the boundaries of peoples, and plunder their treasures; like a bull I bring down those who sit on thrones. My hand has found like a nest the wealth of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved a wing or opened the mouth or chirped."

This is the king of Assyria, boasting of the nations that he has conquered and brought within his control. He has gathered everything into his fiefdom and is quite arrogant as he brags of what he has done.

Although nation-states still exist today, the United Nations tries to exert control over them by means of regulations, treaties and judgements outside their own borders. Financial empires, headed by hedge companies and vast trading groups exercise control over huge numbers of people, businesses and countries, some without even being aware of it. And they too boast of their wealth, their volume, their power.

Like ancient Assyria, they too will be brought down and made to bow the knee before the Ancient of Days and before His Son, Jesus, who is already and will for all eternity be King of kings and Lord of lords.
