Luke 13:17

Luke 13:17 As He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame, and all the people rejoiced at all the glorious things that were done by Him.

Yeshua is teaching the crowd, frustrating his adversaries, routing his enemies and performing many miracles of healing and deliverance. The people are delighted; they rejoice, cheering and clapping, singing God's praises for all the good things they see done and hear said. People rejoice today too, wherever the gospel is proclaimed with power, when the forces of darkness are pushed back, corruption exposed and the God of Heaven is exalted in the name of Jesus. People rush forward to join in with what God is doing, to be able to see the miracles and have relationship with the God who does all things well.

Where do we see these things happening? Where people will receive them and acknowledge them as the works of God; where leaders do not stifle the words, muzzle the speakers and mock at the signs and wonders. Where the poor, hungry and disenfranchised are enabled and empowered to receive the kingdom alongside those with houses and food; where there is an openness to sharing and to making a difference in the world. Where the status quo is not being maintained; where regulation and beaurocracy are not imposed to control and limit expression.

Look around you and see which climate you live in and the way the gospel is proclaimed and received in your neighbourhood. What does that tell you?

A very thought provoking article. It does present a more personal lesson for our humdrum daily lives. Thank you Jonathan.
