Luke 15:8 What woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? A silver coin in those days was a lot of money; we might be talking about a gold sovereign today. How far might we go to search for a gold sovereign if it was lost somewhere in our house? Move the furniture, search the room(s) diligently, check down the side of the chair cushions - then what? It has to be here somewhere!

It is an extension of the Love of God's Shepherd, Yeshua. Knowing the 99 others are safely harboured in the fold, He diligently searches, even for 2,000 years, until He is satisfied that none are lost to the enemy.
