Luke 15:22-24

Luke 15:22-24 But the father said to his servants, 'Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.' And they began to celebrate.

This is the response of heaven to true repentance and a true confession. It seems as though the father has brushed the prodigal son's words aside, but although they are not referred to again within the story, they were heard and noticed by the father. Without them, the reception might have been very different. At the close of the story, after the elder son has complained, the father says to him:

Luke 15:32 It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.

He is alive because he repented and confessed: a full and true confession. So heaven rejoices when one of God's children repents and confesses their sin that they might be fully and completely forgiven.

Have you fully repented and confessed to your Father? Then let the party begin!

As father who lost his son for a few years, I can relate to this...Praise God!

Not only did he return but he is active in his local congregation.

Sadly it appears many today think the son simply came back and said sorry, full stop. There appears to be little, if any, talk about need of true repentance
