Isaiah 26:13-14

Isaiah 26:13-14 O LORD our God, other lords besides you have ruled over us, but your name alone we bring to remembrance. They are dead, they will not live; they are shades, they will not arise; to that end you have visited them with destruction and wiped out all remembrance of them.

How many lords are ruling over us at the moment. Let's count: our government, our society, our passions (and addictions, be honest, everyone has one or two). And that's before we start on the Internet behemoths such as Google and Microsoft.

But hear the words of the prophet. They are all dead; they will not live. They are just smoke and mirrors on the stage of reality. With a sweep of His hand, our God will simply wipe them away.

The reality of what remains - us, our lives and God and His word - will be stark. We will have to recognise who we are and our desperate need for a viable relationship with God. So take this as a "Heads Up!" cry.
