Luke 18:17 Luke 18:17 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.
Jesus has been correcting His disciples who, acting no doubt on the best of intentions, had been preventing children from being brought to Him for a blessing. 'No', He says, 'let them come, because the kingdom of God belongs to them!'
Then He puts His finger on the disciples' problem. They think that the kingdom of God is for adults, for those who can talk rationally and intelligently about it, for those who understand what they are doing. This too gets a 'No' from Jesus. Those who think that or act like that have missed the boat entirely; they have either stayed on the jetty, or stepped off the jetty into the water because the boat left while they were still thinking or talking about it. God's kingdom is actually for those who jump now, who recognise a good thing when they see it and act immediately - without stopping to analyse and debate it - to accept God's offer.
Have you accepted the kingdom of God?
