Luke 21:5-6

Luke 21:5-6 And while some were speaking of the temple, how it was adorned with noble stones and offerings, Jesus said, "As for these things that you see, the days will come when there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."

Prophetic in the short term - for that is exactly what happened to the Temple during the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE - and prophetic in the long term: that is how the situation remains today. There is no temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, despite all the archaeological work that shows us clearly where it was and what happened to it. The Temple has never been rebuilt. Instead, as Paul tells us:

Ephesians 2:19-22 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In Him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

... God is building a temple of people, a house where He will be worshipped and glorifed, a residence where He can and does dwell.

Reminds my of a children's song from my childhood. The Words are simple but full of meaning and just as true today as they were seventy years ago:

Come into my heart, into my heart
Come into my heart Lord Jesus
Come in today
Come into stay
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

And...He did!
