Isaiah 45:5-6

Isaiah 45:5-6 I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides Me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know Me, that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides Me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.

Here is another authority and identity formula. God is speaking, through the prophet Isaiah, to Cyrus: the king of the Medes and Persians, who has just overthrown the Babylonians. Although Cyrus neither knows or acknowledges Him, God will use Him to accomplish His purposes for His people and His Land. Why does He do that? So that everyone may know that the LORD is God and that there is no other god.

God is doing the same thing in our day. Modern society has become multi-cultural, polytheistic, pervaded equally by paganism and atheism (who tolerate each other because in their hearts they know that they are both wrong and in rebellion against God) and God is equipping His people so that people - the world, the nations and all the individuals in them - may know that He is God.

The UN isn't Lord, neither are the EU, Russia, China or the USA. Not even close. Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Get used to it, boys!

It has bothered me in the past to think that, here in America, we would place our hands over our hearts and pledge our allegiance to the flag of our country. While "it seemed right", it was nevertheless not what Hashem wanted. Over the course of a few centuries it has replaced our "need" for a sovereign God to lead and deceived us into misplacing our loyalty first and foremost to the Creator of our very souls.

God always trumps everything.
