Isaiah 52:4

Isaiah 52:4 For thus says the Lord GOD: "My people went down at the first into Egypt to sojourn there, and the Assyrian oppressed them for nothing ..."

So perhaps that's what happens when you go down to Egypt: you get oppressed. Why do people go down to Egypt today? What is so attractive about a culture of bondage and slavery? What did the Israelites say?

Numbers 11:5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic.

So change that into today's allurements: money, drink, sex, films, cars, holidays, stuff - and you have a powerful enslavement system just waiting to grab unsuspecting people.

Are you enslaved and longing to get back to Egypt?
