Isaiah 66:2 All these things My hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at My word.
God has made everything; everything belongs to Him, is controlled by Him and has its very being and existence in Him. He owns it all and can give it to or take it away from anyone at the snap of His fingers.
But look at this: God takes notice not of of high and mighty of this age, those who might perhaps be supposed to have some credibility or standing before Him, those who might be approximating to be His peers (although they aren't, of course), but of the one who is humble, who recognises his lowly position before God and trusts himself entirely to Him.
Instead of building ourselves up, to be worthy of God's notice, we must humble ourselves before Him, repent of our sin (perhaps even including a little pride) and take His word very seriously, applying it to ourselves. That is how we get God's attention.
