Jeremiah 30:20 Their children shall be as they were of old, and their congregation shall be established before Me, and I will punish all who oppress them.
The word 'congregation' here is unlikely to refer to the religious congregation, that is to the congregation of faith. The Hebrew word eydah really implies a gathering or an assembly; some English translations offer 'nation' or 'community'. Interestingly, though, it can also mean a witness. This suggests that the witness of God's people will established, quite a key point of the covenant, and that all those who oppress that witness will be punished.
Jesus instructs the disciples to be a witness for Him:
Acts 1:8 "... you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
In these days too, we can expect those who oppress and suppress the gospel to be punished in the same way because they are denying God's witness to the nations and the world.
