Isaiah 5:24

Isaiah 5:24 Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom go up like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

The word of the Lord is quite clear, however people may try to rationalise it away or dress it up as history, from a particular time and context. Those who reject the Lord and His word - as the people described in the last few verses - will find that their sin destroys them. Ultimately, their lives will fail and they will reap the harvest of their own folly.

We should pray for such people, that they may be given time and grace to repent, to hear the word of the Lord and to turn to Him, to find forgiveness from their sin and healing from their iniquity.
