Luke 16:12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?
As Jesus continues, He makes the point that we demonstrate our honesty, our integrity and our faithfulness when working with stuff that belongs to others. We cannot do that with our own stuff, because we cannot steal from ourselves - it is all ours anyway. No, it is only when we are handling someone else's stuff (money, reputation, ministry) that our level of honesty can be seen in the way that we look after that. The kingdom follow-through is that we actually don't get our inheritance at all until we have proved faithful looking after someone else's - be that parents, an employer or colleagues.
