Isaiah 55:2

Isaiah 55:2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.

How many of us are caught up in consumer culture, always buying the newest and latest to catch up with everyone else, only to have the new newest come out and need us to keep going? The goods of this world do not satisfy - and the constant barrage of advertising, designed to stimulate desire where there is no need, proves that without doubt. Why else would it be needed? We all know that we need food; we need drink - there is no need to make us aware of that, our stomachs are more than capable!

Why are you wasting your time and money, God says, on rubbish that does you no good, constantly wears out and is always being updated? It is an endless treadmill from which you will never escape.

The remedy? Listen to God. Buy what He has to offer and find full and complete satisfaction in exactly what we need and - since God is not the party-pooper most people think Him to be - will give us delight and pleasure that is good for us.

Very relevant at this time. One wonders how long, if ever, before governments especially ours turn to Jesus?
