John 3:27 John answered: A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.
We fool ourselves when we think that we are so clever. That is not, of course, to say that man is unintelligent or has no real thinking capacity. On the contrary, mankind is intelligent - sometimes frighteningly so - and has been created to think and ask questions. But we don't have all the answers; many things are simply beyond us and we just make ourselves look stupid when we pretend that they aren't and that we understand everything.
God tells the ancient Israelites that, "the secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law" (Deuteronomy 29:29). The things that have come down from heaven, that have been revealed to men are many and they do now belong to mankind; they are used every day to benefit mankind, to feed and clothe us as we need. But there are other things that we don't know, that haven't been revealed - such as why one seed will germinate, while another in exactly the same context will not - they belong to God.
And the only way to know about something that belongs to God is to ask Him. Try that today!
