John 6:12-13 And when they had eaten their fill, Jesus told His disciples, "Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost." So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten.
When God supplies, He supplies enough and to spare. It started with just five small barley loaves and two fish, barely enough for a boy's picnic lunch. By the time Jesus had finished, there were twelve baskets of bread left over. That wouldn't have been wasted either, we can be sure it would have been sent home with whoever could take some to be used up and meet some need. We can probably be sure that although some people ate sparingly, others tucked into the free lunch with gusto, eating as much as they could. And yet there were still twelve baskets full of pieces left over.
Are you short at the moment and wondering where the next meal or the next mortgage payment is coing from? Be prepared to surrender what little you may have and be prepared for a surprise as God multiplies it many-fold to feed many in the kingdom and still leave you with more than you had beforehand.
